FMD #31
I had a fabricator cut the round lilypad base and have attached it to the board and set the aluminum leg wires into place. The base measures 3/4” x 6.5” and when enlarged to scale will be 3” x 26” and cast with the sculpture for placement and support, as the final bronze will require some internal armature for support.
I am continuing to develop the clothing on the maquette. Next I will be working on the hands, face and hair. I will not be putting any buttons, jewelry, hat ribbons or fine details for now. On Monday I will be taking this maquette in to have a 3d scan made. The scan will be used to scale up the work in foam and will act as the superstructure and armature for the life size sculpture. While this is a big time saver, it simply will not be able to pick up fine details like the jewelry and hat ribbons. I would end up having to cut the foam off and resculpt those details.
Instead I will save those fine details until after the scans have been made. Then I will be able to put the tiny details in and post final photos when complete.
