FMD #32
Sculpture is a very physical work. As some you may know, I was in a car accident back in early September. It left me with a mild concussion and neck injury and put me out of work for a while. Months of physical therapy followed and the injury impeded movement in my neck and shoulder a bit. This meant that I didn’t do quite as much 360 viewing and working as I would normally do. It’s important to view the work and sculpt from all angles which can mean crouching down for a view from below.
A view from above means climbing chairs, boxes or step ladders to see from a higher perspective.
Hairstyles in the 1950s often emulated the movie stars and celebrities of the era. African American women often straightened their hair and then styled in roller sets for looser and controlled curls.
The portrait study is completed in Chavant Le Beau Touche HM oil based clay.
